This is a test administered by Canadian Dance Teachers Association to award recognized standard of various levels of International Style of dancing for Canadian amateur dancers. The test starts at Bronze, and then continues to Silver, Gold, Goldstar I and Goldstar II.

- Gain confidence and satisfaction for reaching your personal goal
WHAT A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL RECEIVE
- A Certificate showing level and standard attained (Pass, Commended, Highly Commended or Honours)
- A C.D.T.A. Medal
- An individual objective written evaluation and helpful critique from a CDTA examiner
MEDAL TEST DANCES
- Standard: Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz
- Latin: Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive and Paso Doble,
- One Dance: A single dance may be in any level, any style, Including Social (Mambo, West Coast Swing etc.)
FEES & LEVELS
- Any Level: 1 dance – $30 (No medal given out for 1 dance test)
- Bronze*: 2 dances – $50
- Silver: 3 dances – $65
- Gold: 4 dances – $80
- Goldstar: 5 dances – $100
*You may consider preparing 4 dances for Bronze level, in which case you would register twice in this level. In this way you will gain proficiency in 4 dances before proceeding to the Silver level.
PREPARATION
- All Crystal Dance School group classes consist of C.D.T.A. syllabus –
- Bronze II, Silver and Gold Class routines are suitable for Medal Testing.
- To be proficient at the dances, you can repeat these group classes.
- Crystal Members enjoy half-price repeat group lessons privileges
- Private Lessons are not a must but are recommended. One on-one instructions are an excellent way to improve your dancing technique. Your teacher will help you to choose your own music which is suitable for testing.
TEACHER MEDAL TEST PARTNER FEE
Your teacher can partner you for your test if you do not have a regular partner
- Any Level: 1 dance – $15
- Bronze*: 2 dances – $15
- Silver: 3 dances – $20
- Gold: 4 dances – $25
- Goldstar: 5 dances – $35
Talk to your Crystal Teacher if you are interested in taking the Medal Test. He/she will give you a recommendation.
REGISTRATION
- Dates and times of the next Medal Test will be posted well ahead of time in Crystal Ballroom or in our Website
- Registration with Crystal Ballroom’s receptionist must be completed at least one month before the test date
- Non-Crystral Ballroom Students are welcomed to participate
EXAMINATION DAY
- Arrive half-hour before your evaluation
- Warm-up in the designated area
- Ladies are to wear a skirt or dress. Gentlemen are to wear dress slacks, shirt and tie
- During the examination, only you and your partner, the examiner and the D.J. will be in the room
- The test for each dance is approximately 1 ½ to 2 minutes per person per dance.
- Examiner evaluates each dancer separately. If you and your partner is being evaluated, you will have to dance each dance twice in order for the examiner to evaluate each of you separately.
- Bring your own CD or Crystal Ballroom will provide music for the Medal Test
